The granary and stables were originally built by Moulay Ismail in the 17th century. The building was kept cool by water circulating under the floor. Some of the 12 wells (14 meters in depth) connected to the Agdal Basin are still visible. Part of the movie The Last Temptation of Christ was filmed here. The stables are mostly in ruins. Originally the stables housed 12,000 horses. It was made up of 20 aisles and several thousand columns.
