Obituary: James B.
Brady Sr., 76, of 197 Madison St., Wilkes-Barre, died Friday (27 Apr
1984) at the General Hospital following an illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, son of the late Jacob and Margaret Dowling Brady,
he was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and the LaSalle Extension of
Scranton University. Employed by the Delaware & Hudson Railroad for
50 years, retiring in 1973, he was a member of St. John's Church,
Wilkes-Barre, and its Holy Name Society. He served as president of the
Brotherhood of Railroad and Steamship Clerks for many years and was also
well known as a bingo caller for over 40 years.
He and his wife, the former Kathleen Walter, celebrated their 54th
wedding university on April 16, 1984. His brother John died in 1982.
Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Gebhardt,
Germantown, MD; Mrs. Margaret Rukstalis, Kingston; Mrs. Patricia Belsky,
East Greenville; Mrs. Charlette Azarovich, Pittston; son, James B. Jr.,
Dallas; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be Monday at 9:30 from McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 S.
Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St.
John's Church. Entombment in St. Mary's Mausoleum, Hanover Township.
