Kathleen Matilda Theresa Walter was born on 2 May 1909 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.  She was baptized on 16 May 1909 at St. Nicholas R.C. Church, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.   Her Godparents were Henry G. Schappert and Mrs. Henry G. Schappert.

In the 1910 census, Kathleen was 11 months old.  She lived with her parents and 5 siblings at 265 South State Street, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

In the 1920 census, "Catherine" was 10 years old.  The family was renting a house at 190 Park Ave, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.  Living at home were her parents, 9 siblings and grandmother, Elizabeth Schappert, 75 years old.  She was attending school.

On 4 Jun 1930, she graduated as a Registered Nurse from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. 

In the 1930 census, Kathleen was 20 years old.  She was living with her father and 7 siblings at 97 Elizabeth Street, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.  She was working as a private duty nurse.

 She died on 13 Nov 1996 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.  Cause of death was Cardiogenic Shock.  She was buried in St. Mary's (Cemetery) Mausoleum, Hanover Township, Pennsylvania. 

Comment on name:  The Certificate of Baptism lists name as Catherine Matilda Walter; her Marriage Application and Certificate has Kathleen M. Walter.  Her diploma from nursing school says Kathleen Matilda Walter.  She called herself Kathleen Theresa Matilda Walter Brady.  Theresa was probably her confirmation name.

Obituary:  Kathleen Walter Brady, 87, of Madison Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday (13 Nov 1996) in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

She was born May 2, 1909, in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of the late Jacob and Matilda Schappert Walter, was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.

Mrs. Brady was employed as a registered nurse in private duty and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Wilkes-Barre.

Her husband, James B., died April 27, 1984.  Sisters, Regina Fischer, Alberta Walter, Mary Everhart, and Ruth Dwyer, brothers, Edward, the Rev. Monsignor Louis, Paul, Frederick, and Joseph, also preceded her in death.

Surviving are son, James, at home; daughters, Mrs. William (Kathleen) Gebhardt, Delaware; Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Rukstalis, Kingston; Mrs. Chester (Patricia) Belsky, East Greenville; Mrs. Edward (Charlotte) Azarovich, Pittston, 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held Saturday at 9 from McLaughlin Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with Funeral Mass at 9:30 in St. John the Evangelist Church.  Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, Hanover Township.
