World War II Draft Registration Card, 27 Apr 1942: Name was John Joe
Ashberger, born 27 Jan 1887 in White Haven, Pennsylvania. He was 55
years old. He worked for Hazard Rope Works at Pennsylvania Ave and
Ross Street, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Physical description: white,
5 feet, 8 inches, 160 pounds, blue eyes, brown-gray hair, light complexion.
He had a scar on his forehead, nose and chin. Local Draft Board 3,
Chester, Pennsylvania.

Please note that the tombstone probably
has the wrong birth date. When John completed his WWI draft
registration he had 27 Jan 1887 as his birth date. Since the
registration was completed by John, I would think this is correct.
