Father Walter Feted on 25th Anniversary

Members of his immediate family, the congregation of his church and eight fellow priests Tuesday (June 2) night staged a surprise celebration for Father Louis Walter, of St. Caspar Church.

The occasion was the twenty-fifth anniversary of Father Walter's ordination into priesthood.

Twenty five years ago, on June 2, Father Walter, one of ten children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob H. Walter of Wilkes-Barre, PA, was ordained in Toledo by Father Samuel A. Stritch.  He then was a graduate of the Josephinum at Columbus, Ohio.

In the years which followed he served for eight years as assistant pastor at St. Mary's Church in Sandusky; six years as pastor of St. Margaret's Church, Kelly Island, and since 1942 he has been pastor of St. Caspar Church here where he has built and strengthened the church.
