As we boarded the Nile River boat, there were lots of local Nubian people selling stuff, along with a market area. 
The boat stopped at a few temples, some partially under water due to the Aswan dam.  In the afternoon we stopped to get some camel transportation to a monastery in the middle of the Nubian Desert.  This was the only way to get to the monastery - by camel.
